correspondence with EM Forster concerning his proposed extension to the lease on its expiry in 1937, including negotiation relating to Forster's ownership of Piney Copse, 1924-1937;
correspondence with EM Forster concerning notice to terminate the lease [following the death of Mrs Forster] and arrangements to visit the property with Mr Caroe to review building alterations, Jul 1945-Nov 1946;
correspondence with EM Forster concerning the felling of trees supposed by him to lie on his side of the boundary with Piney Copse, later agreed to lie on the West Hackhurst side, Nov-Dec 1948;
Frances Farrer's correspondence with Forster scholars, concerning visits to West Hackhurst, and some very brief notes on Forster's time at West Hackhurst, including re Bone, Forster's gardener and visits by Lawrence of Arabia [TE Lawrence (1888-1935), writer, military officer and diplomat] and some 'rajahs', panelling in the sitting room and a sundial later placed on Mrs Forster's grave, and account by Forster of a crash between Laura Forster and the Farrers in their waggonette, 1957-1976;
agreement with EM Forster for vacant possession of a field with continued access across the site, 29 Sep 1941, and schedule of dilapidations on the termination of Forster's tenancy, 1947;
correspondence relating to water supply and boundaries between High and West Hackhurst (including relating to a field shared informally during the Forster tenancy), the access road to West and High Hackhurst, 1948-1951 [see also below, -/-/-/4 below]
