Surrey History Centre, Woking, opened in 1998 and brought together under one roof the archive collections formerly held at Surrey Record Office in Kingston and Guildford Muniment Room. SURCAT, our online catalogue, provides public access to finding aids to almost all the catalogued accessions of records received over many decades in Kingston, Guildford and Woking. New catalogue entries are constantly being added to SURCAT as further archive collections are taken into the Centre for their long term preservation.

The records described within the catalogue are extremely diverse and include original manuscript and printed documents, audio-visual material, photographs, drawings and watercolours, maps and plans, and, increasingly, digital records. Images of some records have been linked to the catalogue and many more such images will be added.

SURCAT includes much of the local studies material held at Surrey History Centre, including very large collections of sale particulars and photographs, prints and other illustrations. The SURCAT data can also be searched through the Exploring Surrey's Past website (http://www.exploringsurreyspast.org.uk).
